We partner with and support organisations from across the health spectrum on planning and the implementation of equitable lifestyle solutions.
Tomlinson Lifestyle Medicine Consulting was established to respond to inequities in the health care delivery system affecting marginalised communities, specifically Black communities. Often we do not focus on the lack of leisure time or sedentary behaviour and how these affect community members well-being and mental health. We want to change this for community members to be happier and live a more productive life where they live.
We help bridge the gap in health and wellness for marginalised communities by collaboratively working with clients to promote health and equity through developing and implementing healthy community strategies, action plans, or updated official community plans or other strategic plans with a health lens. These broad community wellness strategies will help to foster the conditions for positive health outcomes for all community members to thrive.
It is our goal and mission to promote community wellness solutions in fostering lifelong health for community members. We also serve as an agency that can find and book guest speakers to deliver lunch and learn wellness seminars or training.
We can partner with you to develop health and wellness courses/modules in line with the best practices for online, in class, or blended pedagogy. We use a five-stage development process to create our courses/modules to the best standard: 1) Initiation 2) Design 3) Development 4) implementation 5) Evaluation.
We developed a comprehensive exercise program tailored to patients with diabetes. To ensure patient safety, we added and implemented a medical exercise policy and procedures, including a head injury protocol.
Mindfulness practice carries many benefits, including good mental well being. We designed and tailored the program with simplicity and added cultural elements for racialised groups to enjoy.
We created simple home exercise prescriptions for those with musculoskeletal pain and other health conditions. Coming soon Kinesiology @ home exercise booklet and guide covering rehabilitation exercises to chair exercises for immobile persons.
Walking is the most simple and fun physical activity anyone can do. All you need is a good pair of walking shoes. We initiated a neighbourhood walking program aimed at racialised women, specifically Black women, to encourage them to move more and adapt to active living as part of their daily routine.
